Golden Milk Cubes
Rice milk simmered with turmeric and ginger, then frozen into trays for iced lattes.
By Aunesty Janssen · The Arrogant Hippie Culinary Journal: Rice Milk Edition
Ingredients
- 2 cups Rice Milk
- 1 tbsp Ground Turmeric
- 1 tsp Ground Ginger
- Pinch of Black Pepper
- 2 tbsp Honey
Method
- Combine the rice milk, turmeric, ginger, and black pepper in a saucepan.
- Warm over medium heat, whisking often, until steaming, about 5 minutes.
- Remove from heat and stir in the honey.
- Cool completely, then pour into ice cube trays and freeze until solid.
- Blend a few cubes with cold rice milk or add directly to iced coffee for an instant golden latte.
Kitchen note
Freezing this into cubes rather than a liquid concentrate solves rice milk's thin-body problem for iced drinks, the ice itself provides body and chill at the same time, rather than watering down the drink the way plain ice would.
