Oat Milk White Gravy
A classic Southern-style white gravy built on a vegan roux base, where oat milk's natural sugars round out the black pepper without dairy's usual richness.

Ingredients
- 2 cups Oat Milk
- 3 tbsp Vegan Butter
- 3 tbsp All-Purpose Flour
- 1 tsp Black Pepper, coarsely ground
- 1/2 tsp Garlic Powder
- Salt to taste
Method
- Melt the vegan butter in a skillet over medium heat.
- Whisk in the flour and cook for 90 seconds, stirring constantly, to form a light roux.
- Slowly whisk in the oat milk, a little at a time, to avoid lumps.
- Simmer gently, whisking frequently, for 5 minutes until thickened.
- Stir in the black pepper, garlic powder, and salt to taste.
Kitchen note
Whisk in the oat milk gradually rather than all at once. Adding it too fast is the most common reason this gravy turns lumpy instead of silky.
