Oat Milk Sweetened Condensed Creamer
Slow-simmered with sugar until reduced by half, this creamer concentrates oat milk's natural sweetness into something genuinely close to traditional condensed milk.
By Aunesty Janssen · The Arrogant Hippie Culinary Journal: Oat Milk Edition
Ingredients
- 2 cups Oat Milk
- 1/2 cup Granulated Sugar
- 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
Method
- Combine the oat milk and sugar in a saucepan over medium-low heat.
- Bring to a gentle simmer, stirring occasionally to dissolve the sugar.
- Continue simmering, stirring more frequently as it thickens, for 35 to 40 minutes until reduced by half.
- Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
- Cool completely before transferring to a jar; it will thicken further as it cools.
Kitchen note
Stir more often in the final 10 minutes of reduction. This is the stage where oat milk's natural starch is most likely to catch and scorch on the bottom of the pan.
