Oat Milk Matcha Latte
Ceremonial matcha whisked and layered over cold oat milk, where oat milk's naturally sweet body softens matcha's grassy bitterness without needing much added sugar.
By Aunesty Janssen · The Arrogant Hippie Culinary Journal: Oat Milk Edition
Ingredients
- 1.5 cups Oat Milk
- 1.5 tsp Ceremonial Matcha Powder
- 3 tbsp Hot Water, just off the boil
- 1 tbsp Maple Syrup
- Ice, for serving
Method
- Sift the matcha powder into a small bowl to remove clumps.
- Add the hot water and whisk briskly in a zig-zag motion until smooth and slightly frothy.
- Fill a glass with ice and pour in the cold oat milk.
- Stir the maple syrup into the whisked matcha.
- Pour the matcha over the iced oat milk and stir gently before serving.
Kitchen note
Sifting the matcha is not optional here. Oat milk's own starch content makes any existing matcha clumps even harder to break up once they hit the liquid.
