Oat Milk Coffee Creamer Base
A simple infused creamer base that takes well to vanilla bean, hazelnut, or pumpkin spice, thanks to oat milk's naturally sweet, neutral starting flavor.
By Aunesty Janssen · The Arrogant Hippie Culinary Journal: Oat Milk Edition
Ingredients
- 2 cups Oat Milk
- 1 Vanilla Bean, split and scraped, or 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
- 2 tbsp Maple Syrup
- Pinch of Salt
Method
- Combine the oat milk and vanilla bean (pod and scraped seeds) in a small saucepan.
- Warm gently over low heat for 5 minutes to infuse, without boiling.
- Remove the vanilla pod and stir in the maple syrup and salt.
- Cool completely before transferring to a bottle or jar.
- Shake well before each use, since natural separation is normal.
Kitchen note
For a hazelnut or pumpkin spice version, swap the vanilla bean for a tablespoon of hazelnut extract or a teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice added at the same infusing step.
