Camel Milk Golden Turmeric Latte
A warming, golden latte where camel milk's natural salinity balances turmeric's earthy bitterness.
By Aunesty Janssen · The Arrogant Hippie Culinary Journal: Camel Milk Edition
Ingredients
- 1.5 cups Camel Milk
- 1 tsp Ground Turmeric
- 1/4 tsp Ground Ginger
- Pinch of Black Pepper
- 1 tbsp Raw Honey
- Pinch of Ground Cinnamon, to finish
Method
- Warm the camel milk gently in a small saucepan over low heat, whisking in the turmeric, ginger, and black pepper.
- Continue whisking over low heat for 3-4 minutes until fragrant and gently steaming, taking care not to let it boil.
- Remove from heat and whisk in the raw honey until fully dissolved.
- Froth briefly with a milk frother or whisk vigorously to create a light foam.
- Pour into a mug and finish with a dusting of ground cinnamon.
Kitchen note
The black pepper is not optional. It significantly improves the body's ability to make use of the turmeric, and the small amount used here is imperceptible in flavor.
