Ingredients
- 2 cups ripe seedless watermelon, cubed and chilled
- 1 1/2 cups very cold camel milk
- 1 tbsp mild honey, or to taste
- 1 to 2 tsp fresh lime juice, to taste
- 1/2 tsp finely grated lime zest, optional
- Ice
Method
- Blend the chilled watermelon until completely liquid. Fine-strain if you want a smoother drink, measuring about 1 1/2 cups juice.
- Whisk honey into the cold camel milk until dissolved.
- Combine watermelon juice and sweetened camel milk and stir gently.
- Add 1 teaspoon lime juice immediately before serving, taste, and add the second teaspoon only if the drink needs more acidity.
- Fill glasses with ice and pour the cooler over.
- Finish with lime zest if desired and serve immediately rather than storing the acidic assembled drink.

Before you start
Watermelon Is Liquid
Very juicy melon can dilute the formula. Straining and measuring the juice gives the most repeatable result.
Acid Rule
Add lime at the end, cold, and by teaspoons. More acid is not automatically more refreshing.
Make-Ahead
Chill watermelon juice and sweetened milk separately; combine only near service.
Serving
Mint, sumac or lime zest add aroma without requiring more lime juice.
Kitchen note
Add the lime juice at the very end, right before serving, rather than letting the mixture sit, camel milk can react to sustained contact with citrus even when served cold.
