By Aunesty Janssen · The Arrogant Hippie Culinary Journal: Almond Milk Edition
Ingredients
- 2 cups Unsweetened Almond Milk
- 2 tbsp Cocoa Powder
- 2 tbsp Sugar
- 2 oz Dark Chocolate, chopped
- Pinch of Salt
- 1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract
Method
- Whisk the cocoa powder and sugar into a small amount of the almond milk to form a smooth paste, working out any lumps.
- Heat the remaining almond milk in a saucepan over medium-low heat until steaming.
- Whisk in the cocoa paste and chopped chocolate, stirring until fully melted and smooth.
- Add the salt and vanilla, and warm gently without boiling.
- Pour into mugs and serve immediately.
Kitchen note
Making the cocoa-and-sugar paste first, rather than whisking powder directly into the hot milk, is what prevents the dry clumps that are especially visible in a thinner milk like almond.
